An Accountable Temporary Expedient (ATE) is what I call a task that is designed to respond to a choreographic situation, but is only temporarily valid and is does not apply to all circumstances—Accountable means considerate of the consequences it will have on the current circumstance (in a performance setting); Temporary stands for not applicable in all circumstances at all times (disposable or case sensitive); Expedient implies that it is practically useful in a situation of action.
This project originated in my interest in the idea of feedback loop in performance, consisting of elements of movement, sound, image, and thought/feeling, with as a goal the creation of an archive hosting these elements online. I focused this exploration on feedback as a translation from a medium to another, considering movement, sound, image (still and moving) and speech as elements that are generated by performing and are fed back into the performance.

To create a digital archive documenting the exploration of possibilities for a performance that roots in and manifests through multiple mediums.
The archive that this blog constitutes is composed of documentative material in the forms of descriptions, reflections, images, videos and sounds. |
