Before formulating the above, I invited a chosen audience to whom I privately sent the video, to contribute to this loop with a response. This was encouraged to be in free form, poetic or descriptive, phrased or composed of a list of separate words, and of any length they felt appropriate.
These are contributions from people whom I chose and know me and my work, therefore I do not hold this as statistical information nor as neutral feedback, but rather as comments that informed the shaping of an in-the-making questionnaire which is meant to a general audience of viewers and could form the basis for further research into the emotional responses of audience members.

-Matteo- |

"A space can apparently have limits in every direction. But, when the "void" is given life: that is, the creative presence, the space loses a kind of real consistency. It does not enlarge but becomes a container for dimensions that exceed it. The movement creates its own space which, with its transparency, pierces appearances and reaches "beyond" going "towards". So it involves what is outside, bringing it inside, giving it an internalized vision". -Pirkko- "I really liked how I could see the direction of the action with some movements; at others it was more spooky, only parts and fragments of the whole and at other moments it turned out that you were dancing with your shadow". -Mel- Presence like a stream of lights in motion lines curves fragmented changes oppositions antagonisms (organic) climax exploration attempts to escape back to explore body wonder heartbeat emotions follow the eyes follow the heart beat back and forth back and forth back and forth "A permanent state of impermanent wonder the ephemeral joy of the essential motion of a living being" -Simona- "I got a little anxious, it wasn't scary but I still had this feeling inside. I saw you moving around the room and then returning to the same initial position so I imagined that you wanted to get out of them but always being stuck as if they had limited your freedom". -Giacomo- "Hide & seek or shadow-play? The setting and sound (and movement when there) makes me think of some Berlin club party, but then again, the parts with more stills (after 2 min) are very peaceful. At the end where it speeds up and then calms down seems to tie it all together after light was opened in the middle.' -Tan-
"The superimposition of the images gives the idea of a continuous motion that makes you omnipresent and absent at the same time, with the parts of the body that appear and disappear in space. It seemed to me it could represent a metaphor for the existence of a person, life, from birth to death. From the slight initial beats, followed by the crescendo of movements and sounds, until sunset, when we stop". -Matteo- "The body remains mere appearance - wide open , an arctic wound - a cosmic force. a battle with ossification; it is refusing to be still, while in stillness; speaking to a still moment - repeated - you subvert temporality. I am reminded of Yves Klein's experiments with photography - in particular Saut dans le Vide ; Today the painter of space must, in fact, go into space to paint, but he must go there without trickery or deception, and not in an airplane, nor by parachute or in a rocket: he must go there on his own strength, using an autonomous individual force; in short, he must be capable of levitation. Y.K. Space is your domain - you are moved by the power of spirit. I see your portrait-work. The body has never crystallized. It is always becoming. Over and over again. I am thinking of the programme notes for Meg Stuart's 'Disfigurement Studies'. You move towards a hidden light that is bright and clear. I am lulled by the sounding heart. The heart is a drum machine. I find myself pressing pause a lot : to see the unseen repeated". -Charlie- "It could be a charcoal drawing, still-life in motion. But toward the end when the pace quickens there is static, though it become more fluid. I notice I use the word 'it' not 'you' or 'her', because you have become so a part of the dimension. Erasing, or dispersing like smoke? Or a dancing shadow, the memory of another? But in this space, memory shares a plane with present and future: they are the same, but different, as the changing beat. I love this beat. It's heart, it's earth, it's underwater and electric. I want the space to open, or change, or move. I want there to be freedom, but make peace with my projection. In colour it becomes a language, and I wonder what you are spelling with your body. And I see you as you, there is some autobiography. Yellow light is sentimental". -Indy- |
